The American Dream in Pop Music. An Analysis of Lyrics and Historical Influences

Often linked to the "rags-to-riches" myth, this idea has consistently inspired people to migrate to the United States. The analysis focuses on the diverse interpretations of the "American Dream" found in selected pop songs. Here, lyrics are examined for their depiction and attitudes toward the "American Dream". Additionally, the reasons behind the association of the "American Dream" with the American West Coast, particularly California, are discussed.
