About the author










Benjamin H. Hary, Ph.D. (1987) in Near Eastern Studies, University of California, Berkeley, is Associate Professor of Hebrew, Arabic and Linguistics at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, USA. He has published extensively on Judeo-Arabic language and linguistics (including Multiglossia in Judeo-Arabic, Brill, 1992), Arabic dialectology, Jewish languages and Corpus Linguistics.
Haggai Ben-Shammai, Ph.D. (1978) in Arabic Language and Literature, Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Professor of Arabic Language and Literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel; President of the Society of Judeo-Arabic Studies. He has published extensively and edited several books on Judaeo-Arabic Bible exegesis and philosophy, Karaites and Karaism, history of Jewish communities in Islamic countries, Islamic philosophy and Qur'an exegesis.
