About the author










Eyal Ginio is Senior Lecturer and the former Chair of the Department of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2009-2012). He completed his Ph.D. at the Hebrew University in Middle East studies (1999) and post-Doctorate at Oxford University in the UK (1999-2000). His recent publications relate to the social and cultural history of Ottoman society during the Balkan Wars (1912-13).

Elie Podeh teaches in the Department of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He served as the Chair of the Department (2004-2009). His main fields of interest are: inter-Arab relations; Arab-Israeli Conflict, Egypt and culture in the Arab world. His latest book, The Politics of National Celebrations in the Arab World, was published by Cambridge University Press (2011).
