This book is an original contribution to the ongoing debate concerning the social background and the transmission-history of the Book of Proverbs. It is the first detailed comparative study of biblical proverbs and Arabic proverbs and the wisdom sayings of Prophet Muḥammad. All Arabic material appears in transliteration and translation.

Riad Aziz Kassis, Ph.D. (1997) in Old Testament, University of Nottingham, is Assistant Professor at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary, Beirut, Lebanon and Chaplain of J.L. Schneller Institute. He has published several articles and works in Arabic.
