About the author

Carlo Lamur was born in 1932 in Paramaribo and studied economics and history in Sweden and international relations in Trinidad before embarking on a diplomatic career. Since January 1985 he has been Director General of the Secretariat of Eurocontrol in Brussels (Belgium). Further publications by Carlo Lamur on the Surinamese bauxite industry are forthcoming.
