Ce livre est composé avec le contenu des derniers cahiers de Simone Weil. Ce sont, comme on le verra, en majeure partie, des pensées, des ébauches d'¿uvres, des notes de lecture, mais aussi quelques bibliographies et des citations. Il y a sept cahiers et un carnet. Les cahiers sont de la période qui va du départ de Marseille pour le Maroc le 17 mai 1942, au départ des États-Unis pour l'Angleterre le 10 novembre 1942.

Simone Weil (1909-1943) was one of the twentieth century's most profound thinkers.
