Use this workbook to focus on the fundamentals of creating and using a geodatabase, the primary information model across the ArcGIS platform.
Focus on Geodatabases in ArcGIS Pro by David W. Allen shares best practices for designing, creating, and using geodatabases. You will learn how to:
Design the geodatabase schema
Create a geodatabase
Populate and share a geodatabase
Extend data formats
Work with features
Perform advanced editing
Work with topology
Each chapter discusses focused concepts with hands-on, step-by-step tutorials. Each tutorial includes a sample project file, datasets, special ‘Your Turn’ segments where you can practice earlier concepts, a review with study questions for classroom use, and an independent exercise that you work through to ensure that you have mastered the concepts. Instructor resources are available by request.
David W. Allen has been working in the GIS field for over 35 years, the last 30 with the City of Euless, Texas, and has seen many versions of ArcInfo and ArcGIS come along since he started with version 5. He spent 18 years as an adjunct professor at Tarrant County College in Ft. Worth, Texas, and now serves as the State Director of Operations for a volunteer emergency response group developing databases and templates. Mr. Allen is the author of GIS Tutorial 2: Spatial Analysis Workbook (Esri Press, 2016).
