Khirbet el-Maqatir lies 16 km north of Jerusalem. The Associates for Biblical Research excavated 14 summer seasons and 5 winter seasons between 1995 and 2016. Volume 2 reports on the remains of a Late Hellenistic/Early Roman village, and a Byzantine ecclesiastical complex.

About the author










Scott Stripling, provost and director of the Archaeology Institute at The Bible Seminary, is the director of excavations for the Associates for Biblical Research at ancient Shiloh (2017 to present). He previously directed the excavations at Khirbet el-Maqatir (2014-2016). He serves as president of the Near East Archaeological Society. Mark A. Hassler is professor of Old Testament and director of the master of theology program at Virginia Beach Theological Seminary in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He serves as field archaeologist for the Shiloh excavations and previously worked as a supervisor at the Khirbet el-Maqatir excavations. He is vice president of the Near East Archaeological Society.
