In this work an analysis and study of the competitive advantages according to Porter on the production of prickly pear cactus (opuntia ficus-indica) is made, considering the characteristics of the region, the culture of this very important crop in the state of Zacatecas, considering also the results obtained from public sources and institutions of the agricultural sector, also applying the methodological conjunction of Case Study, Historical Method and Observation based on the characteristics of the crop, operating costs and income provided by the nopal crop with its different uses in the economy, concluding with the section on the impact of climate change on agri-food systems.
