As a branch of cultural education in folklore, museum studies is a part of the educational system. Objects or exhibits of cultural value are kept in a museum. They are exhibited publicly for enjoyment and education. Explored they can be in a variety of ways.Museum studies deals with visitor-oriented methods, targeted according to visitor groups and mediation offers. The objects should be made accessible. This also raises questions of communication, cultural mediation and educational work. Museums are places of education and experience. Museum studies help with the conception of exhibitions and guided tours and with accompanying materials for visitors.The study is divided into the conceptualization museum, functions, museum and home and learning in the museum. Basis are the completed courses on museum studies at the Institute of Folklore-European Ethnology/ University of Innsbruck in 2000 and a specialized literature.

Herbert Jenewein. Laureato in studi folcloristici presso l'Università di Innsbruck. Master - autore del libro: "Wandern zu Sagen und Mythen im Wilden Kaiser" (Innsbruck 2002). Tra le pubblicazioni: "ALMSAGEN aus den Almregionen Österreichs, Südtirols, Bayerns und der Schweiz" in: Fachzeitschrift für den europäischen bergbäuerlichen Raum/ Innsbruck 2020-2021.
