Pura believed the library was for everyone. Using her skills in storytelling, she encouraged Hispanic children to visit the library by creating bilingual story hour. Her community outreach helped to make the Hispanic people in New York City feel included.

About the author

Annette M. Clayton writes books for children with social and emotional learning themes in the hope that they inspire open dialogue, encourage empathy, and let children know they are not alone in their feelings and experiences. She is the author of a Latinx holiday book Hooray, It's Three Kings Day! and a forthcoming chapter books series. When she's not writing, you can find her exploring the Appalachian Trail or planning her next Disney World vacation. Annette resides in a quiet Maryland town with her husband and twin daughters.
