Disaster risks (floods and droughts) have a direct impact on people's access to basic social services and livelihoods. It is important to build resilience in two pilot communes, namely Touna in the Segou region and I in the Bamako district, through a tool that enables communities to prevent, mitigate, prepare for and respond to disaster risks. Thus, mapping facilitates the understanding and assessment of the impact of floods and droughts on people's livelihoods and the analysis of coping strategies to address them. -Populations affected by floods from 2002 to 2012 in Touna commune: 30% of the population of 18 villages = 7042 people -Populations affected by droughts from 1970 to 2011 in Touna commune: 70% of the population of 24 villages = 23,875 people -Populations affected by floods from 1985 to 2013 in commune I: 2% of the populations of 5 neighbourhoods = 4087 people -Populations affected by droughts from 1970 to 2011 in commune I: 0.5% of the populations of 9 neighbourhoods = 1760 people
