Artificial insemination increases the genetic potential for production. Reproductive failure is attributable to semen quality. Various factors affect the sperm quality in cryopreserved semen resulting in infertility. Semen analysis methods including zona binding assay are used to assess the semen quality. However, still the fertilization is not fully assured. Transcripts in spermatozoa play roles in sperm function and early embryonic development. Male fertility markers are associated with sperm motility, axoneme migration, flagellar movement and regulation, sperm energy, etc. which in turn influence the fertility. The genes associated with motility, hexose sugar uptake and metabolism, capacitation and sperm-egg interaction, etc. could give valuable information about the possible effects of freeze-thaw and osmotic stress on spermatozoa. Therefore, fertility associated genes or Transcripts help to prepare better semen extenders, accurately estimate sperm fertility and to predict sperm survival after processing. This book is suitable for scientists working in semen biology, frozen semen banks, breeders and molecular biologists working in semen cryoinjury or cryocapacitation.
