This article facilitates the analysis of the impacts on the development of shale gas in Mexico, and its main objective is to demonstrate why the exploitation and production of shale oil and gas is a viable business for Mexico in social, economic and environmental aspects. Therefore, the general objective is to discuss the main environmental and social problems that arise from the exploration and production of this type of resources, as well as to analyze the exploration and production capacity of shale gas in Mexico and the feasibility of extraction and distribution methods in the country. Likewise, the existing regulatory framework at a national and international level is presented and compared.
