This book has been the outcome of the research conducted for the Handloom weavers in Sepahijala district. Traditionally weaving as their primary occupation is in a pitiable condition, owing to poor Socio-economic condition. However various unfavourable factors lead to decline on the aspect of socio-economic conditions. Majority of them are wage weavers working for more than 8 hours day accompanied by the entire family. Majority weavers are working under the control of master weavers. The findings of the study have been considerably related to the techniques to improve the socio-economic conditions of handloom weaver households. Handloom industry gives employment to lakhs of people it is thus a productive employment generator in the rural and urban areas it focusing on development of the area.

Dr. Gokul Acharjee ist ein professioneller Akademiker, der in Agartala lebt. Er promovierte 2013 am IIT in Kharagpur in ländlichem Management. Er verfügt über 12 Jahre Erfahrung in der Industrie, Lehre, Forschung und im Management. Zurzeit arbeitet er als Leiter der Abteilung für ländliches Management an der ICFAI-Universität.
