About the author

Silvia Salas Sánchez, daughter of Mexican Immigrant parents, born in Hawthorne, California and raised in the South Bay. She developed good work ethic through the example of her hard-working father and mother, both in and outside the home. She visited her Abuelos often and spent time visiting family in Michoacan and the border town of Tijuana, Baja California. Later, Silvia attended college and became the first in her family to complete a bachelor's degree in Communication and a Master's degree in Education. She worked various jobs including as an On-Air personality in Radio and as an educator at a local Middle School. She bridged all of these experiences with her love of life, family, community, culture, and education in the creation of her YouTube Channel entitled "Abuela's Kitchen."
