Mordecai Soper (1746-1824) and his descendants tread a path across a young nation starting in 1770 when Mordecai married Naomi Owen (1751-1836) in Connecticut. Mordecai served during the Revolutionary War and eventually settled in Milton, Vermont where he took the Freeman's Oath in 1783. By the early 1820's their children began moving across the United States. Initially settling in update New York and later moving westward across the United States. This book follows multiple generations of the Soper family to share their stories and their migration across a young nation.

¿¿Along the way, there are many stories of love, heartache, and adventure. There are soldiers (Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War, and World War I), there are farmers, teamsters, millers, lawyers, doctors, gold miners, iron miners, loggers, explorers, inventors (with patents and their invention in the Smithsonian), Texas Supreme Court Justices, Jayhawkers, prohibitionists, and murders.
