This study investigated the extraction of chitin and preparation of its derivative chitosan from Scylla serrate and Penaeus indicus. Based on the results obtained the chitosan with remarkable anti-inflammatory activity could be used as an anti-inflammatory drug in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Bhavya Devanooru Krishnamurthy obtained her post-graduation in Biochemistry from Mangalore University, Mangalore, Karnataka, India. She did her doctoral studies in the area of Phytochemistry and Pharmacology. Currently she is working as an Associate Professor, Department of Sciences (Biochemistry), Administrative Management College, Bengaluru.
