A young woman in the early aughts first finds sensual freedom through the art of dancing in a small Pennsylvania town only to realize that it could be taken from her by informal life events. She moves from the dance stage as a mixed-race woman and then by authority powers she is in the costody of either the mental health hospital and then the local prison. She finds freedom again by moving to the free love culture of San Francisco that still seemingly billows out its sexual counter culture from the 1960's to the early 2000's in which the young woman is still fighting for freedom in the face of adverse life situations.
