Informationen zum Autor Phil Sterling has more than 35 years’ experience in nature conservation practice in Britain, and has held a life-long interest in Lepidoptera. He holds an MA (Oxon) in Zoology and his DPhil (Oxon) was on the ecology and biological control of the Brown-tail Moth. He is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society (FRES) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management (FCIEEM). Phil is a national authority on moths, co-authoring the Field Guide to the Micro-moths of Great Britain and Ireland (1st and 2nd editions) and Field Guide to the Caterpillars of Great Britain and Ireland . These guides have made moths much more accessible to a wide audience, especially micro-moths, which were an obscure branch of British moth fauna. He has been awarded a Marsh Award for Insect Conservation (2016) and a Marsh Lepidoptera Award for Lifetime Achievement in Lepidoptera Conservation (2012). Phil is a keen promoter of the public understanding and enjoyment of moths and butterflies, and regularly give lectures, presentations and media interviews at national and local levels. He also runs identification training courses. Mark Parsons has been studying Lepidoptera since 1976. He has a BSc in Biology, is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society (FRES) and is a member of the British Entomological and Natural History Society and the Societas Europae Lepidopterologica. He has worked as an entomologist for the Nature Conservancy Council and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, as well as a lepidopterist at the Natural History Museum, London. Mark has produced many notes and articles in entomological journals, and authored or co-authored many papers and other publications on Lepidoptera and Lepidoptera conservation. He also co-authored the Field Guide to the Micro-moths of Great Britain and Ireland (1st and 2nd editions) as well as A Guide to the Pyralid and Crambid Moths of Britain and Ireland . Richard Lewington is an acknowledged leader in the field of insect illustration. His meticulous paintings of wildlife are the mainstay of many of the modern classics of field-guide art, including The Butterflies of Britain and Ireland , Field Guide to the Moths of Great Britain and Ireland , Field Guide to the Micro-moths of Great Britain and Ireland , Field Guide to the Caterpillars of Great Britain and Ireland , Field Guide to the Bees of Great Britain and Ireland , Field Guide to the Ladybirds of Britain and Ireland , Field Guide to the Dragonflies of Britain and Europe , Guide to Garden Wildlife and the Pocket Guide to British Spiders . Richard has also designed and illustrated wildlife stamps for several countries.
