This volume presents selected papers presented during the 16th International Conference on Humanizing Work and Work Environment (HWWE 2018). The book presents a confluence of ideas on ergonomics and technology implementation to improve workplace environments and work systems to maximize effectiveness and performance. About the author

Prof. Bijulal D. is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering currently working in the Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, India. He was earlier associated with the College of Engineering Trivandrum, India, for more than 20 years including three years as Professor in the CET School of Management, out of 22 years of teaching experience. He has done his M.Tech. in Industrial Engineering and Management from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur and completed his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from IIT Bombay.

The research interests of Prof. Bijulal D. include Industrial Engineering and Management, General Management, Intellectual Property Right, Behavioural Finance, System Modelling and Simulation, System Dynamics, etc. He is an approved guide under the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram and has five scholar doing their research under his guidance. Apart from the publications that he authored, he is a research contributor as reviewer for many international journals and conferences. 

Dr. Regi Kumar V is a Professor in Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Kerala, India. Dr. Regi Kumar V. acquired his MTech from University of Kerala and MBA from IGNOU. He has done his PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Kerala and having seven years of industrial experience and more than 20 years of teaching experience. His research areas include humanitarian supply chains, ergonomics of heavy vehicle drivers, inventory optimization of perishable edibles, emotional ergonomics, niche banking and green supply chains. He is having more than hundred publications and guiding seven PhD scholars.

Prof. Suresh Subramoniam is the Professor and Director of the School of Management, College of Engineering, Trivandrum affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala, India. He has done his B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from Kerala University, M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Louisiana State University in USA specializing in the field of Ergonomics and Human Factors Engineering, and his Ph.D. in Management  in the area of New Industrial Engineering from Kerala University. Prof Subramoniam's  research focuses on human factors engineering including manual materials handling, design of tools/equipment, usability studies and New Industrial Engineering. He has authored more than a hundred papers in journals and conferences, and has authored one book. He has worked in Indian Space Research Organization and also in Universities in Saudi Arabia and Oman and  has produced Six PhD's. He is a Fellow  of Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering.

Rauf Iqbal is a researcher, teacher and consultant in Ergonomics and Human Factors Engineering. He is an Associate Professor and In-Charge of Ergonomics Laboratory at the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai. He holds a PhD degree in Ergonomics. He teaches Ergonomics and Human Factors, Layout and Facilities Planning and Worksystem design to the master's students of Industrial Engineering, and Manufacturing Management. and his research interest is Worksystem design, Engineering Anthropometry and workspace design, Biomechanics of human movement, Occupational ergonomics and Safety management.

Rauf Iqbal has publications of over 120 as journal articles, edited books, book chapters and conference proceedings. He has been regularly presenting and chairing sessions at International conferences over the last 15 years. He has guided several scholars for the PhD degree as well as master's theses.  He has reviewed articles for various International journals and also has examined PhD thesis from national and international universities. He is member of various international andnational committees like, - BRICS Plus Executive Committee for Human Factors and Ergonomics, Council member of Asian Council on Ergonomics and Design, Ergonomics sectional committee for Bureau of Indian Standards, Executive committee member of Indian Society of Ergonomics etc.  He has carried out various projects funded by the Government as well as International Labour Organization. He has been conducting training and consultancy for numerous industries in the areas of ergonomics, work study, work systems design and Safety management.

Vivek Khanzode is Associate Professor at National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai. He holds MTech and PhD in Industrial Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. He teaches Operations and Supply Chain Management, Worksystem Design, Simulation Modeling and Lean Manufacturing in postgraduate programs at NITIE. He has designed and launched executive and leadership programs in manufacturing and logistics domain. Prof Khanzode is associated with manufacturing industries for productivity improvement projects using lean manufacturing, process control and robust optimization techniques. His research interests include modeling, design, and optimization of manufacturing and logistics systems.
