Globalization makes traveling easier than ever before. Individual travelers like to move around as backpackers, or backpackers. In search of adventures and new experiences, however, they are on their own. Uncertainties are preprogrammed. Looking for methods to neutralize these uncertainties, which act as stressors, is the goal of this book. It addresses the following question: Which methods are helpful for backpackers to compensate their travel-typical stressors in the best possible way? The literature review revealed that the main stressors cited are: Hazards affecting personal safety, questionable access to medical care, and infectious diseases. Thus, sufficient preparation time is useful to be able to prevent any critical situations by gathering information before the trip. The knowledge thus gained reduces feelings of insecurity and increases self-confidence and composure. This can minimize the risk of becoming stressed.
