About the author










Alyssa Winne works in deaf education. She was born in New York, and started learning Sign Language from her mom. Her mom is an interpreter, and taught Alyssa signs her whole life. When they moved to Texas, Alyssa attended a school with a deaf education program. She started learning more Sign Language to communicate with her peers, and took ASL classes in high school. Alyssa decided to work in a deaf education program when she graduated, and is studying to become a deaf education teacher. Her favorite thing about her job is helping the students make connections. She saw how her students wanted to see a book character that is the same as them, and she wanted to provide them with that.
