Acute infections are among the classic risk factors for venous thromboembolic disease. The role of chronic infections such as tuberculosis is poorly defined, although several clinical cases and case series suggest an association between tuberculosis and thromboembolic disease. The aim of this study was to assess the risk of thromboembolic disease in tuberculosis patients and to study the epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and evolutionary aspects of VTE complicated by tuberculosis. Methods: Prospective, descriptive, multicentre study of 17 patients with TB complicated by VTE.Results: Fifteen men and two women with a mean age of 44.88 years were enrolled. Thromboembolic complication was revelatory of TB in 2 patients, appearing during hospitalization in 15 patients, 11 of whom were under anti-tuberculosis treatment. There were 3 cases of immediate pulmonary embolism (PE) and 14 cases of deep vein thrombosis complicated by PE in 7 cases.
