Mit dem jetzt vorliegenden Band Heartland widmet Oda Jaune ihrer Heimat Bulgarien eine Retrospektive ihres Werks. Die begleitende Ausstellung fand in der Nationalgalerie in Sofia statt. Der umfangreiche Katalog zeigt eine Auswahl von Arbeiten der in Paris lebenden Künstlerin, die gekennzeichnet sind von komplexen Bilderwelten zwischen Schönheit und Verstörung. Ebenfalls in der Publikation dokumentiert wird die in Bulgarien realisierte monumentale Skulptur »The Caress«, die an verschiedenen Orten des Landes jeweils temporär platziert wurde und so einen intensiven Dialog zwischen Kunst und Natur im öffentlichen Raum ermöglichte. Die umfangreiche Monografie zeigt neben Werken vom Beginn ihrer Karriere auch aktuelle Gemälde, Skulpturen und Aquarelle, die von Texten begleitet werden.

Summary
In the newly published volume Heartland, Oda Jaune dedicates a retrospective of her work to the country of her birth, Bulgaria. The companion exhibition took place in the National Gallery in Sofia. This extensive catalogue features a selection of works by the Paris-based artist, which are characterized by complex visual worlds that fluctuate between beauty and disturbance. The publication also documents the monumental sculpture The Caress, which was temporarily placed in a variety of places throughout the country, opening up an intense dialogue between art and nature in public space. Along with works from the early phase of her career, the comprehensive monograph also features current paintings, sculptures, and watercolors, accompanied by essays.
