Teachers at any level, but especially at the graduate level who work in a school system, must have the commitment and ability to face and solve, in an efficient manner, the challenges they face. It is necessary that they assume their role as guides-researchers that lead them to put into practice new forms of intervention and new ways of conceptualizing the objects of study, and as a result, the production of scientific knowledge. This research is the product of a committed teacher with the courage and desire to solve a problem that arises in the Escuela Normal Superior de Querétaro (ENSQ). The problem detected was that the students had difficulty learning the contents, so we proceeded to conduct an investigation that would reveal the reasons for this difficulty. After delimiting the problem to work on, the following was proposed: "Analysis of the development of intellectual skills and their relationship with academic performance".
