Christopher Thornton is a professor born in Chicago in 1956. Writer and photographer, he teaches in the Department of American Literature and Culture Studies at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. He has worked as a special correspondent for the U.S. State Department's International Information Program and has written many articles and essays based on travel-related themes. In 2019 his first book, Descendants of Cyrus: Travels Through Everyday Iran, was published by the University of Nebraska Press. He is currently planning a book on eastern Europe that would also be a travel narrative.
