About the author










John Charles Griffin is a poet, author, photographer and recording artist, a 1984 graduate of Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature. His first book, AFTER THE MELTDOWN was nominated for a 2016 Georgia Author of The Year Award for Poetry. A second book, DIRT ROAD VISIONARY was featured at the 2019 Finster Fest. A third book, JUNKYARD LOVE LETTERS was accented by a spoken word performance cd published at BMI Music produced by Tommy Talton with cover design by Grammy nominated album cover artist Flournoy Holmes highlighted with an All-Star lineup of musicians recorded at Macon's legendary Capricorn Studios. Griffin is a Macon, Georgia native who serves on The Board of Trustees with The Allman Brothers Band Museum at The Big House, is a U.S. Navy Veteran having served with Middle East Forces. Written works have appeared in GRITZ MAGAZINE, JAVA MONKEY SPEAKS, SALVATION SOUTH and THE REACH OF SONG. Griffin is a popular Spoken Word Artist having performed at Pasaquan Festival, Atlanta's Callanwolde Arts Center, Amelia Island Coffee, Avid Books of Athens, Macon's Sidney Lanier Cottage, Macon Arts Alliance, Rothschild-Pound House, and Valdosta, Georgia's Turner Arts Center. Photographs have been featured in Macon Magazine, Kudzoo Online and various charitable fund raiser auctions. His current public service missions include voluntary participation with charitable causes including Daybreak Homeless Outreach, Macon Mentor's Project and the annual Holiday Hootenanny Concert to benefit Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. Griffin spent his early years living on a dirt road learning how to catch bream, plowing fields and doing numerous chores on his family's farm near Hahira, Georgia.Member of American Academy of Poets and Georgia Writer's Association.
