The present artistic research project concerns Ecuadorian pre-Columbian art, in this case that which corresponds to the iconography of the Valdivia Culture, one of the oldest and most important of Ecuador and America. Its purpose is to study the iconography, symbols, morphology and graphics of its sculptures and ceramics, highlighting the visual and aesthetic beauty of the beautiful figurines known worldwide as "Venus of Valdivia". In this work we propose to describe characteristic elements of the pre-Columbian artistic conception of Valdivia, to abstract and refigure the designs of the previously selected archaeological pieces, which in general present anthropomorphic, zoomorphic and geometric forms. This analysis will allow us to extrapolate the ideas and designs of the pre-Columbian Valdivian artists, as a source of creation for its application in a pictorial series called: "The Splendor of Valdivia".
