The marriage started to shake off when the in-laws demanded that Manka, the daughter-in- law should keep on bearing children till she gets a son. The culture in those old days, a son was the one supposed to get all the inheritance of the family. But Manka, with today's living conditions, rebelled against that culture, hence the conflict in the family.
