IMPACT OF LOGGING ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE DRC - Case of the Mateko sector in Kwilu province

The improvement of the DRC's electrical energy supply, currently estimated at 14%, is an excellent strategy for the preservation of the Congo Basin's forests because the use of wood as a source of energy is one of the biggest drivers of deforestation in the DRC and the region.The Congo Basin is one of the largest remaining areas of continuous tropical forest on the planet. This region is larger than the state of ALASKA and is the second largest rainforest on the planet behind the Amazon.
