A didactic manual for the preparation of the clinical history in Periodontics was created with the purpose of raising the cognitive level of specialists and residents to achieve the necessary quality of this legal and fundamental document in secondary care. A bibliographic review of each of the aspects of the content was carried out in order to provide updated elements and then the manual was structured in four fundamental parts. Theoretical methods (analysis-synthesis; inductive-deductive and systemic-structural) and empirical methods (analysis and observation) were used. This manual constitutes a didactic tool for specialists and residents, helps residents to self-evaluate and solve deficiencies, thus influencing the modification of the current cognitive state and favoring in a systematic way its application in the field of specialized stomatology.
