Is information worth a life? Nihilism becomes a moment of the present time and pessimism the daily bread of the "fouille-merdes". Riveted to the game of the image and in search of meaning, we are abominably "telepresent" to the world. However, the efficiency of communication is not always compatible with thought and meditation. In the highly competitive world of communication, which should not be confused with that of information, the value of content is never questioned. The system of interpretation is subject to the laws of the market which decide the meaning of everything according to its exchange value. Hence its contemporary drifts... On the contrary, philosophy does not rely at all on the same type of exchanges nor on the same system of interpretation. It hardly transmits messages, it seeks rather to validate ideas and to forge concepts which enable it to interpret the world without transforming it. Is the newspaper the figure of the present and its reading "the morning prayer of the modern man"? How to reconcile the requirement of facts with the constellation of ideas? Can the "reporter of ideas" help us to think on our feet?
