We live in an increasingly unpredictable physical and social environment. Climate change, viral pandemics, wars, and mass migrations present significant challenges, while new technologies and media are transforming the ways we understand ourselves and think about our political situations. Which attitudes, skills, and values should we cultivate to enable us to respond well to the challenges of this changing world? The essays in this volume emphasise the importance of creativity, collaboration, understanding, and wisdom in dealing with one another and thinking about novel and unforeseen difficulties.
