This book is the THIRD VOLUME (of a three-book series) about the history, restoration, and rebirth of the Mark Twain Zephyr. The Mark Twain Zephyr was a CB&Q train that operated from 1935 to 1958, primarily along the Mississippi River from Burlington, Iowa to Hannibal and Saint Louis, Missouri. After retirement from the CB&Q, the train passed through the hands of several private owners (1960-2020) who had big dreams, but did little in the way of restoration. In 2020, the Mark Twain Zephyr was purchased by the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad, who is restoring the train to full operating condition at their shops in Northwest Wisconsin. This book by the Midwest Rail Rangers follows the Mark Twain Zephyr's history year-by-year. Exclusive photos and interviews with the children of the original owners are presented.

Covered in this THIRD VOLUME are photographs and detailed information about the move of the five cars - "Injun Joe", "Becky Thatcher", "Effie Dean", "Huckleberry Finn", and "Tom Sawyer" - from the St. Louis area to Northwest Wisconsin. Also provided is information about the first two years of the Mark Twain Zephyr's refurbishment at the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad, from August 2020 thru August 2022. There is also a "bonus chapter" that provides a route guide for the train's original route, between St. Louis, Missouri and Burlington, Iowa. You are purchasing the SOFT COVER EDITION.
