For thousands of years Aloe Vera plant, also known as the miraculous plant, has been a subject of endless myths and legends but nowadays it plays an active role in improving health, nutrition and beauty worldwide. It is a succulent, drought-resistant perennial plant common in the arid and tropical regions of the world. The book focuses on the historical discovery of its unique and extraordinary biological properties. Particularly, in the past twenty years, Aloe Vera as a whole-plant and its parenchymatous jelly substance have triggered enormous scientific interest. This renewed curiosity has given rise to several clinical studies with conflicting results.The book concludes with a detailed presentation of a clinical study performed by the author, where Aloe Vera gel proved to be successful in treating inflammatory bowel diseases patients. Therefore, Aloe Vera can rightly be considered an old natural remedy that may be superior to many conventional synthetic drugs.

O Dr. Hans Unim é um médico nigeriano, licenciado pela Universidade de Roma "La Sapienza" em 2005 e que prosseguiu o seu doutoramento clínico em Gastroenterologia pela mesma Universidade em 2010. Actualmente, é doutorando em Doenças Infecciosas e Tropicais no ano passado. É também o fundador e director do Projecto Life for Africa no Uganda.
