The work deals with one of the important aspects of the teacher's professional activity - the teacher's assessment activity. The relevance of the presented research is due to the need of society and the state for a teacher who can solve professional tasks of pedagogical activity, including tasks related to his evaluation activity. The study systematizes the requirements for the assessment activity of a modern teacher by educational levels and professional tasks of pedagogical activity; the connections between the teacher's assessment activity and his professional pedagogical activity are substantiated in the logic of the competence-based approach; the features of the evaluative activity of the teacher are highlighted as a component of his professional activity; the essence, factors (objective and subjective, internal and external) and indicators of the development of the evaluative activity of a modern teacher are revealed; the possibilities of the development of the evaluative activity of the teacher in the process of his professional development at school are determined.
