A participatory methodology is used that favors the appropriation by the population of new knowledge, the incorporation of new points of view and the possibility of reflecting on what is felt and experienced in terms of the adoption of new behaviors by the population to achieve the prevention of the risk of contamination by the water resource in the municipality of Mella. The existence of a harmful demand is taken into account, which, according to P. Kotler and E. L. Roberto (2006), is the result of the risk of water pollution. L. Roberto (2006), is when the addressees have socially harmful ideas and in order to get them to abandon these harmful practices, specialists should provide a satisfactory substitute idea or practice; in this case, it is the fact that the inhabitants of the municipality of Mella, for the most part, do not apply preventive measures to avoid water contamination by drinking water without the characteristics indicated for its consumption, and the adoption of pertinent hygienic-sanitary behaviors should be achieved in this population to avoid the risks that this practice could cause.
