About the author










Daniel C. Littlefield received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Johns Hopkins University. A Carolina Professor of History at the University of South Carolina, Littlefield previously taught at several other institutions, including the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Louisiana State University. The author of Revolutionary Citizens: African Americans, 1776-1804 and Rice and Slaves: Ethnicity and the Slave Trade in Colonial South Carolina, Littlefield resides in Columbia.
