"Through the Rain" is a story of love, loss, and healing. It's a journey that is lyrically written alongside beautiful illustrations that demonstrate the emotion we feel, and the questions we have when we are faced with the loss of a loved one. While this is a difficult topic, it is something that pulls at the heart strings in a very gentle and touching way for children and adults alike. As we navigate through the stages of grief we sometimes take steps back or in this case re-read the verses until we are ready to turn the page. Once we reach that point, we have traveled 'Through the Rain' to see the sun shining through and the realization that our loved ones are always with us in our hearts and by our sides in all we love and do. On the inside cover of the book, there is a special place that a child can hand write the name of whom they wish to dedicate this book to.This book was beautifully illustrated by Melanie Darling, Edited by Sheri Wall, and Designed by Chris Locklear.
About the author
Jill Shipley is a first time writer who decided to put pen to paper to honor her dad and create something for him, his grandchildren, and other children who have gone through a loss and are in the process of healing. She currently resides in North West NJ with her loving husband and two amazing children. They are her reason for everything and without them none of this would be possible. She is looking forward to writing more, enjoying life with family, and seeing where this road takes her. Her debut book: "Through the Rain" is based off an original song her father Gene had written for her with the same title. Growing up her parents always had her reading and involved in all things music, art, and creativity. This book is a true reflection of that, and she hopes to bring comfort to anyone who needs it as they navigate 'Through the Rain'.
