Mika Takishima is Japan's oldest fitness instructor. Born in Shinagawa on January 15, 1931, Mika Takishima was 14 years old when the war ended. After working at a department store in Ginza, she married her current husband, and after their two daughters left home, she became a full-time housewife, and while living a carefree life, her weight increased dramatically. Her husband took her to a fitness center for a trial session, and at the age of 65, she discovered for the first time the joy of exercise and started going to the gym every day. She lost 15 kilograms and tried swimming, marathon running, aerobics, hula dancing, etc. When she made her debut as an instructor at the age of 87, she became a big hit by word of mouth, saying, Just looking at her makes me feel better!"
