To those who wait: Motel Universe 3 concludes the sci-fi trilogy that’s been in the works since 2017, the first two books of which were counted among the Comics Journal’s best of their respective years.
A real keeper: The Motel Universe trilogy exits in style, with 176 full-color, offset-printed pages wrapped up in a very hard cover.
Art is everywhere: Drescher’s comics have been published in Lumpen Magazine and AIGA’s Eye on Design. He has been interviewed by Ello, De: Formal and TDK. Drescher’s paintings and prints have been exhibited at Galerie Mikael Andersen and Printed Matter. His illustrations have appeared on Inlaid Ear and Cultura Collectiva. Joakim Drescher’s work was featured in Sketchbooks by Richard Brereton (Laurence King Publishing). Drescher was a resident at the Knust & AGA LAB, a speaker at the 2016 Post Design Festival and a featured guest of the Beast Crawl Literary Festival. He has performed both music and comics at STEIM.
A Royal Pedigree: Joakim is the eldest son of illustrator and best-selling author Henrik Drescher, and artist Lauren Weber - and stepson of artist Wu Wing-yee, and musician Tom Bailey, of the Thompson Twins. Not a bad way to get born, and an even better support system.
All over the world: It may not the intergalactic, epic journey of Motel Universe, but Joakim Drescher will finally be on a near-world tour with Motel Universe 3.

He is the eldest son of illustrator and author Henrik Drescher and artist Lauren Drescher.  Joakim studied fine arts in Amsterdam at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy where he was a part of the now defunct tape label So Obsolete Records and one part of the DIY publishing outfit Stalking Cat Editions with artist and illustrator Marie Boye Thomsen.

Summary

You have reached the end of the Motel Universe.
The Skins, a slave race once hunted for their pelts, have turned the tables on their masters, the Jeffs, making for the hottest reality show in Depression Land. Meanwhile, the Skins’ home planet of Epidermis is ravaged by inflation, a Neuro drug epidemic, and an all-controlling hyperconglomerate, the Shackler Corporation. Sounds like another uprising may be in order!
Motel Universe 3 is the final volume of a trilogy of graphic novels from Joakim Drescher, an artist Print Magazine says is “is carving a place for himself in the image world.”
