The present study is an endeavor to comprehend ethnic relations between the Savara and surrounding groups occupying the Seethampetal Mandal of Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh. This examination was led and deciphered inside the structure of a social anthropological point of view. It gives a reasonable picture of their degree and nature of alteration and the procedure of progress over the span of time because of communication with other ethnic groups. The ethnic groups are Savara, Jatapu, Rellies, Golla, Medara and Paidi. Among them, Savara and Jatapu share a common village space whereas the remaining are not. Hence the dissertation discusses the social, economic, political and religious relations between Savara and Jatapu. Savara relations with other remaining groups were discussed according to their livelihood patterns. Savara's increasing contacts with Jatapu have brought significant changes in the traditional life of Savara.

About the author










The author, Mr. Kanike Veerashekar, is a Research Associate (Cultural Anthropology) at the Anthropological Survey of India. Earlier, he was a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Anthropology at Andhra University. He was a postgraduate from the University of Hyderabad in Anthropology and also secured three gold medals from the University.
