"Domino builds a tree house in his backyard, followed by a tree cottage, and then a tree mansion, but he never seems to be happy with what he has."--

About the author

Dawn Patitucci is a teacher from Illinois, an aunt, a cat person, and a home improvement warrior like Domino. She hopes kids reading this book will be as bold and enterprising as Domino is—just as long as they remember to appreciate the little things along the way. She is a longtime faculty member at Moraine Valley Community College, where she teaches computer programming and database design. She is the author of the historical fiction novel The Queen’s Prophet. Domino's Tree House is her first children's book.

Francisco Fonseca is a Portuguese artist and illustrator best known for his epic and intricate drawings of European houses, towns, and landscapes. In addition to illustrating children's books, Francisco has painted several wall murals in and around his hometown and regularly teaches drawing classes in person and online.

Summary

Join one boy's quest to build the ultimate tree house in this imaginative picture book about the good things we might be missing in our never-ending pursuit of "better."

Domino’s backyard isn't enough for him, so he builds a tree house. When the tree house isn't quite enough, he builds a tree cottage, then a tree mansion, and on and on, pursuing something "more"—something that he can't put his finger on and can't quite reach. In a series of escalating feats of tree-house engineering, Domino builds and builds, until he finds himself alone on the moon, still not satisfied.

Gorgeous illustrations of a gravity-defying tree house will capture little ones' imaginations, while the satisfying conclusion will remind young readers that wanting more might cause us to miss the sweetness of what we already possess.

Foreword

This imaginative picture book about a boy's belief-defying, ever-expanding tree house explores the tension between chasing "more" and finding contentment.
