Leaching is one of the most important methods used by the chemical industries which represents solid-liquid extraction. It was originally referred to as the percolation of a liquid via a bed of solid materials, but now it is also used to refer to operations including other means of contact. The most common application of leaching is preparing tea. Here, the solid is the tea leaf from which tannin and various required substances are extracted from into the solution by the solvent water. Leaching has found various applications in various industries such as metallurgical industries where metals such as Ni, Al, Mn, Zn and Co are extracted from their respective ores by the process of leaching.
