About the author










Maggie Lee (1921-2013) was a member of the Northfield News staff for more than 68 years.A native of Northfield who prepared for a career in accounting, she came to realize that serving as news editor of her high school newspaper had been the most pleasurable experience in her life.She used the accounting experience to gain employment at the News, suspecting that if she were "on location," she would get an opportunity to write.Through the years she served as reporter, news editor, managing editor and for 19 years, editor. From age 65 until 2012, she was a staff writer.She was a founding member of the Northfield Historical Society, keenly interested in her community's history. She served for several years on Northfield's Heritage Preservation Commission.
