An engaging picture book telling the story of a little girl called Klara who, curious about how her grandmother's blue, sparkly bag can hold so many wonderful things, climbs in to find out. Accompanied by Grandma Georgia's small black cat, Klara finds herself falling through a magical, amazing adventure in Alice in Wonderland style! Will she ever reach the bottom? Would you copy Klara and climb into the bag?

Perfect for children aged 3 - 5, 'Grandma Georgia's Amazing Handbag' is packed full of imagination, written and illustrated in a style designed to encourage shared reading and lively discussion along the lines of 'how', 'what', 'why', 'who'. Featuring a fun literacy or counting question/challenge at the bottom of each page of text relating to the accompanying picture, there is also a pictorial subplot (the cat appears in each illustration: what is it doing and why does it follow Klara?) to help children develop skills in line with the goals of Foundation Stages 1&2. There is also a life skills message as the book gently hints at the wisdom of thinking before acting whilst inviting children to give their own thoughts and opinions.

A book to be shared and enjoyed between adult and child, 'Grandma Georgia's Amazing Handbag' is available in both paperback and hardback.

About the author

KD Greaves is a former teacher, now tutor and has always loved books; to the extent that when she was four, she asked her parents if the family could move to Disneyland because she wanted to live in a story! (An ambition achieved when she grew up and spent several years working as a tour guide in magical, fairy-tale cities such as Venice and Rome.)Holding a B.A. Hons Degree in History, KD went on to gain a P.G.C.E before working in schools; first as a classroom practitioner and then as a literacy intervention teacher, weaving storytelling into the fabric of her teaching. A great believer that reading for pleasure empowers readers and guides them in finding the voice inside themselves, she has a passion for helping children discover a lifelong love of words.Parent to three boys, KD's writing career has included a range of well-received stories and playscripts commissioned by the BBC, Channel 4, and Granada Television.
