To be an effective leader, a school head must employ the best type of management style to ensure quality performance. Likewise, a school head is in a position to adapt a particular style of leadership that fits the situation (Hermosa, 2009).According to Republic Act No. 9155, otherwise known as the "Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001", Section 1.2 (ii), the principals must exercise sound administrative management of the school. Further, in Section 4 (m), school heads are described as persons responsible for the administrative and instructional supervision of the school or cluster of school. It is also stated in Chapter 1, Section 7 (e) par. 3 that consistent with the national educational policies, plans and standards, the school heads shall have authority, accountability and responsibility in managing all programs, projects, activities and services of the school. Thus, the success and failure of the school depends on the kind of school principal it has.
