'Christendom' This is an original and substantial piece of work. It is carefully constructed and expressed with felicity and freshness of phrase and without needless repetition. 'Andover Newton Theological School Bulletin' Since the book is essentially biblical both in perspective and in the nature of the problems which it discusses, it is admirably fitted to the temper of those who are interested in the development of biblical theology. 'Religion in Life' The book is full of brilliant insights, and a wide knowledge of literature and philosophy is drawn on for illustration . . . 'Journal of Biblical Literature'
