Except for the clavichord owned by the Mozart family and used by them when travelling, only one organ, built in 1763 for the church of St. Thekla in Welden, south of Augsburg, and the Vis-à-vis harpsichordpiano of 1777 now in Verona survive from the period covered by the notebook.All the well-known Hammerflügel by Stein in museums around the world, those with his famous German action, were made after the notebook was full. But this is not to say that the notebook provides a clear history of Steins develpment up to 1777, the last year entered in the notebook.
